Connected Britain Awards 2022


For the fifth year running, the Connected Britain Awards will recognise the most significant and innovative organisations, solutions and programmes that are shaping Britain’s digital future.

Entries are free and you can nominate in as many categories as you like. The winners will be named at the end of Day 1 of this year’s Connected Britain event, 20 September 2022.

The deadline for entries has been extended to Monday 18 July.

Please note the "Startup Award" is only open to startups exhibiting at Connected Britain, who will be invited to apply for one of ten 10-minute pitch slots on Day 1. These 10 companies will be automatically shortlisted for the ‘Startup Award’ with the winner determined based on their pitches at the event. Categories 

This award will recognise an ISP that is a true champion of full fibre and has demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit and/or broken through barriers to market entry to grow their businesses and help drive full fibre adoption in the areas where they operate. Judges will be looking beyond companies that have simply integrated a new product variant into an established portfolio, to those able to share examples of local/regional marketing innovation and quality, creative approaches to achieving results in a crowded connectivity market and excellence in educating and empowering their customers to make a well-informed full fibre choice.

This category is open to CSPs and vendors with specific solutions for enterprises of any size. The judges are looking for innovative solutions that facilitate the activities of the enterprises and their employees and so have a positive impact on customer experience. This can include a wide range of solutions such as video conferencing, UC, cloud services, BPA and XaaS.

This award looks to recognise and reward a change, campaign, project, or event (internal or external) that has enhanced the environmental credentials of a UK telecom operator or CSP or is a specific telecom related sustainability initiative from the public sector in 2020/2021.

This award recognises the organisation of any type that has been outstanding (in the opinion of the judges) in enhancing the delivery of gigabit capable broadband in the UK through development of engineering and delivery strategies that broadband builders are adopting to accelerate rollouts to meet 2025 targets.

Barrier Removal Award - this recognises the organisation(s) that has facilitated a successful initiative to remove or lessen barriers to connectivity improvement, such as, but not limited to wayleaves and easements, planning and finance blocks. It is also a place to highlight cross industry collaboration to make better connectivity happen.

This is open to any organisation, including vendors, operators and public sector who can demonstrate use of technologies including, but not limited to 5G and IoT to deliver an innovative project in industries including manufacturing, transport, and energy.

The access innovation award is open to any type of organisation, including CSPs, vendors and property owners who can demonstrate a successful and innovative initiative to facilitate access into a previously hard to reach location. This might be rural, urban notspots or other hard served locations. Technologies can include but are not limited to satellite, fixed wireless and cellular.

This category is open to any operator or service provider who identifies the end consumer as their customer. We are not looking for the largest company or most extensive network, but are looking for the organisation that can demonstrate attributes including outstanding customer service (including around Gaining Provider-led Switching), innovative products packages and offerings and imaginative partnerships with organisations such as councils, developers, and housing associations to best service their target customers

Digital Skills Award - this recognises the public or private sector organisation or NGO that has delivered a standout project based around skills improvement. The judges will be particularly looking for evidence of programmes that brings skills to a wider audience or that identify and address specific skills gaps.

This is open to operators and service providers as well as resellers and other channel companies. This category recognises the organisation that best serves the business customer, firstly with connectivity, but also with a wider ICT portfolio. The winner will demonstrate great customer service that goes the extra mile.

This award is open to places, Local Authorities, CSPs and their vendor partners who are improving lives, communities, economic prospects and more through the application of cutting-edge technology, data driven insights, and the latest high-speed connectivity. The entry can apply to a single project focusing on an individual place or several inter-related projects for a UK town or city.

Community Improvement Award - this is open to operators and public-sector organisations who can demonstrate a project that brings a community together and delivers a demonstrable improvement, for example creating employment opportunities, a social based project, technology for good etc.
